Fit for the Future at University Hospital Llandough (UHL) is a partnership between Down to Earth, the Cardiff & Vale Health Charity and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
Together, we are developing outdoor, green health care with staff, patients and the wider community.
Our Health Meadow will be the flagship outdoor health care facility at UHL developed through this approach embedding an edible landscape and natural construction, whilst enhancing biodiversity.
We are holding an Open Day and we’d love to invite you along. Drop in anytime between 11am and 1.00pm. For the full experience you’ll need at least an hour to have a good look around and have a go at a taster activity.

Rydym yn cynnal Diwrnod Agored a hoffwn eich gwahodd. Galwch heibio unrhyw bryd rhwng 11 am a 1.00pm. Ar gyfer y profiad llawn, bydd angen o leiaf awr arnoch i gael golwg dda o gwmpas a rhoi cynnig ar weithgaredd blasu
With staff, patients and the wider community, we are building an outdoor healthcare and rehabilitation facility, based on 14 acres of woodland and meadow next to the hospital over the next 2 years between June 2021 and June 2023, with a focus on participant health and wellbeing. Anyone can get involved, whatever their ability or previous experience. We have lot’s of experience in our team of working with people from all walks of life and abilities.
On site there are opportunities to get involved and get involved in woodwork and construction, woodland management, fencing, tree planting and path building, as well as our usual fun activities like fire-lighting, traditional wood crafts and ecological/nature surveys. As part of this we will work towards an Agored Cymru accreditation in woodwork or work-experience.
We are looking for groups or individuals who would want to come along and get involved, learn new skills, get outdoors and work together on this new project. If you would like to get involved or are part of (or work with) a group who would benefit from this, or could signpost people to us, that would be amazing!
We are running programmes every weekday and sometimes in the holidays, so there are plenty of different ways to get involved. Please get in touch if you would like more information or have any questions.
